Statement from Zach Thomas

The Dolphins have just released this statement from a very content Zach Thomas.

Why is he content? Let's see, he's escaping a team that was 1-15 last year and in rebuilding mode. He's going to play for a good team next year.

Why not be happy?

“I want to thank the entire organization, especially Mr. [Wayne] Huizenga, for making my 12 seasons with the Dolphins as memorable as they were,” Thomas said. “I also want to thank all the coaches and teammates that I’ve had during my career for helping me to grow both on and off the field. I have a tremendous appreciation and admiration not only for the Dolphins organization, but for the fans as well, for all of the support that they have given me. I can’t thank Bill Parcells, Jeff Ireland and the rest of Dolphins management enough for handling this situation in a first-class manner. I am healthy and look forward to playing in 2008, but will always consider myself a Miami Dolphin.”

Dear Zach, please go to the NFC. Hell go to Dallas it doesn't matter but I don't want to see you face the Dolphins ever. I wish him the best, but if he goes to New England or Indy I just don't see how I could. San Diego would be fine too I'd like to see both him and Chambers get rings. Either way with him leaving, who's gonna replace him? I know Crowder will fit at inside linebacker but then that means we need to replace him on the outside. Dan Conner in the draft works for me but we could always go with a Boss Bailey or Teddy Lehman if we wanna take a chance. I think Parcells is making room for his former boys perhaps Spears and Carpenter in a trade with Dallas involving our 1st overall pick. if not who are some linebackers you'd guys would like to see us take a look at?

They did made this move because Zac wanted to play for a winner next season.

Every armandoope post starts with a snarky dig at the Dolphins. Het, why don't you go cover another team, like the Cuba Castro's !

Agree with all the comments, one of our best ever. Can someone tell me why we didn't seek a quick trade for even a 4th or 5th rounder? Anythings better than nothing right? Was it just not possible?

Hey Ceed,
Karlos Dansby is young and has good size (6'4, 250+ lbs). Kawika Mitchell is 6'1, 250+ lbs. Both would be definite upgrades. I like your thought about getting an LB w/ a draft-day trade w/ Dallas. Think they'd give up DeMarcus Ware? Obviously they won't, but I'd love to have him. Greg Ellis is okay as far as the Dalls LBs go, but he's getting old.

I hate to see Zach go, but he's leaving under the best possible circumstance. He can pick his team. They let him go, they did not try to trade him or get a draft pick. They did him a favor because of how great he has been as a Dolphin. I wish him all the luck in landing on a Super Bowl team. He deserves it.

Hey Zach, Man this is a bummer for us as fans. This is sililar to loosing 13. Zach, you are the man. I will miss watching you play in the Teal and Orange. I guess I will find out who my second favorite team is soon. We will miss you, and Thank You for the sacrifice you made. Like Marino, it seems we could never get a great team around you, Best of Luck, and please come back to the Dolphins again, as a coach, as a broadcaster, or even as a player. Miss ya Bro.

Its a sad day to cee such a n outstanding player leave. I have watched every game you have played in and not sure how i feel you not being there. Your heart was bigger than anyone in that league and I am hoping that you will be back on the team this year. Will miss you a great deal, thank you for everything you have done...its like its not even real.....

hey Ceed,
The only trade Miami will have with Dallas is sending the 1st overall pick to Dallas for their two 1st rounders and the rights to Marion Barber. I wouldnt mind getting Carpenter but Spears hasn't proved anything. Plus, here's a prospect.. Draft Ali Highsmith in the 2nd round out of LSU.

Sir Zach...I can't imagine my Dolphins without you...this is a sad day for the team and for your fans. I hope you end up on a winning team (just PUH-LEEEEZE don't go to Buffalo!) and get that ring you so well deserve. Many of the other writers are already talking about who will replace you. I'm here to tell ya that you're irreplacable. I loved watching that man play football!

Sometimes I have to laugh...sad day? That statement from Zack is pure politics...nothing more. Trade him...to whom? What team is going to give you more than a bag of peanuts for a OLD MLB thats one hit away from drinking soup threw a straw...he'll be lucky if he signs a vets contract and smart if he just retires with his millions and enjoy's whats left of his life. Zack gave us plenty of years of great times as a Dolphin...but the Dolphins go on...just like they did without the other greats in the past.

ZACH needs to go out like Dan did. As a Dolphin. Screw that crap. He did what he could and his freaking brains are ONE HIT from being permanently scrambled. He needs to just chill out with his cash and have a statue made in his honor here.

If he goes to another team and gets messed up (99% chance of that happening) he'll just end up regreting it when he's 50 and has a brain of someone 90.

BE SMART ZACH. RETIRE LIKE DAN DID...WITH HIS HEAD HELD HIGH AND BEING ABLE TO ENJOY THE REST OF HIS LIFE.

This is the new "St Valentine's Day Massacre" What a shame. Zach you are Class, pure Class Tears swelled in my eyes as the day Dan left. I understand it's a business. Please don't go to the Pats or Bills or stinking Jets. As much as I respect and admire you, I would have to root against you if you went, even to win the ring. Retire, become our linebackers coach. You, as Dan was, are the face of the DOLPHINS.

Zach, I wish you the best of luck. I really hate, and I mean HATE to see you go. I wish I could put my 2 sense in, but I can't. I have to say, you are the most amazing football player I have ever seen, and you definitely deserve 100 rings.

All the best Zach Thomas, you were truly a warrior and leader for the Miami Dolphins and definitely one of my favourite players who ever played for the Dolphins. A true classy player, who deserves to win a Superbowl ring. Sadly it did'nt happen with the Dolphins but now you have a chance with a contender.
All the very best for the future.

anonymous at 6:56 Zach does not deserve to be traded to any team and not for a 7th which is all a team will risk on a plyer coming off a concussion (Unless a team hasa mnorobn like Cameron making decisions)

Zach deserves a shot at picking his own team He got it
