Taylor NFL defensive Player of the Year

Jason Taylor will be awarded the NFL defensive player of the year award later today, beating out Denver Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey and San Diego linebacker Shawne Merriman.

Taylor proved this year he was not only Miami's most dominant player but one of the best players in the NFL.

The end who sometimes lines up at linebacker had 62 tackles, 13 ½ sacks, 14 quarterback hurries, two interceptions -- both returned for TDs -- 11 passes defensed, 10 fumbles forced and two fumbles recovered.

Taylor is holding a press conference at 12:30 today to talk about the awards and other subjects, but he has been asked about this award before.

"It’s always a flattering point but this is the ultimate team game on the planet," Taylor said last week of the award. "Of course you would like to have team success like [Indianapolis] is having than lead in individual accolades but if that was to happen it would still be a team award for me.

"It would be an award that I would share with the whole defensive unit. But like it said, I would much rather be playing January."

This award couldn't have been given to a more hard working guy, who also happens to be an explosive defensive player. It is a horrible shame that he hasn't really had the chance to shine under a playoff type of spotlight. After dealing with a potential divorce, he came out and delivered for a horribly underachieving team.

It is about time Jason is feeling acknowledged for his accomplishments. he is a great player and a role model for the young kids who watch the game. That no matter how bad everthing may be going for you and your team, you give it all your best.

Congrats Jason.

Good 4 Jason. Now on to business!
FIRE DAUNTE CULPEPPERS LAME ASS!
This is more shit that has to go!
He was another complete fuckin'
waste of time & money. His best days are long behind him. We need to draft a quality QB. Not Quinn either. Someone like John Stocco
from Wisconsin!

Taylor along with the Thomas have kept this franchise afloat for nearly ten years. It's good that one of them is recognized for exceptional play. Taylor played like a possessed man sometimes this season. It's hard to wonder why other players aren't inspired by a guy like that......

On to business...Why is Miami always going after some other team's used goods? Interviews with jim Mora and Chan Gailey? Are you kidding me? These guys are washed up. Miami needs to find an NFL coordinator that is accomplised like Ron Rivera and wants the challenge of being the coach of a team for a while. Miami does not need a coach on another stop to build his resume.

Also, Miami needs to do some housecleaning. Get rid of the old defensive players(Keith Traylor) and the worthless offensive players(Chris Chambers, Daunte, Joey, Ricky) and get some picks. Get young fast or the Jets and the Bills are going to be kicking our ass up and down the field for another ten years.

Draft Troy Smith. Forget Brady Quinn(good arm, not a winner). Forget the guys from Hawaii and Wisconsin. Smith idolized Dan Marino, hates to throw interceptions, and wants the job of being a team's leader, and is super accurate. Then build youth at key positions like O-Line and D-Line-the core of a football team.

Saban set this team back another five years from getting to the playoffs. Unfortunately, Taylor and Thomas might be gone by the time Miami has a resurgence or they'll be in the twilight of their career. Hopefully for them they're with other teams to have a chance to win rather than play for a team that must rebuild in the next 3-5 years.
