Live blogging action today during the game

The Steve Fifita experiment is over the Dolphins.

A lot of you asked me during the week why it was that rookie Paul Soliai was not active for last week's game while Steve Fifita took his spot. Well, today Fifita is inactive and Soliai is active again.

Truth be told, neither has been outstanding in giving vet Keith Traylor time to rest during games. On another front, as I reported earlier this week, cornerback Michael Lehan is starting in place of Travis Daniels who has moved to safety.

And, by the way, the Lorenzo Booker inactive streak is at three games now, which kinda stinks since the Dolphins season is only three games old.

I will be blogging live during the game.

I'm picking the Dolphins. I just don't think a whole lot of the Jets, especially with Pennington being at less than 100 percent.

And I hear you on Green.

Can the Dolphins actually run the ball? Or is the Jet's run defense as porous as Miami's? The Dolphins offensive line looks pretty good thus far.

How can you even say that Fifita wasn't that effective, it takes a little more than 10 plays to get the job done, he barely played last week. If you remember in he pre season, while having extensive playing time he was quite productive. Keith Traylor didn't get rested vey much last week and maybe Fifita should have been in there more. Traylor & Soliai have been less productive than Fifita who doesn't get driven off the ball like the other two. If you gave Fifita half a chance he could be a huge difference. Size doesn't matter, look at Zach Thomas. Get over the eye test and look at productivity.

2:25 PM

Friggin' incredible. Two straight one-handed catches where the Dolphins were actually getting away with defensive penalties. Clear defensive holding not being called on the first one, clear defensive pass interference not being called on the second one. So, even when we cheat, we can't come close. Best half of offensive football this team has played in a long, long time, and it's still only 13 points and it's still an 8-point halftime deficit. Great coaching by Camoron Camoron, from abandoning the run at the 2:00 minute warning to the squib kick. One boneheaded decision after another. If the Jets take the second-half squib kick (heck, why not onsides it?) and score a TD, this team will quit and the final could well be 42 or 49 to 13. We're the worst franchise in football, and to make matters worse, we're OLD. It's still going to somehow get worse before it gets better. If this team wins a game, I'll be shocked.

Defense is once again folding in critical situations. Secondary needs to make some big plays to keep up and stop the run. Pass defense is passable, no pun intended, but too many broken coverages are present. Given the stats, you would think the Dolphins would be currently holding a 10 point lead, but defense and special teams have allowed the Jets to score some easy points.

Special teams though seems to be the weakest link here. Brandon Fields is a bit inconsistent. Ginn, while he is improving, still needs to work on running straight ahead, rather than trying to juke the tacklers. That works in college but not in the pros, where the opposing players are that much faster. 98-TD return was an utter abortion of a play that should have never happened.

At least the offense is playing more efficiently. The running game is on and Green has made the majority of his passes with relatively few drops by the receivers. It's just a shame that the defense isn't showing up! On paper they look good, but so far, they aren't making plays or even putting on whole lot of pressure on Pennington.

Let's recap...
We're running all over the Jets, yet at the 2:00 warning, in scoring position, all three timeouts, we throw three straight passes.
We squib kick, not with 30 seconds left, but with over a minute-and-a-half left.
And now we have to burn a timeout because we don't have the proper personnel on the field for a chip shot field goal attempt.
Cam CaMoron makes Rich Kotite look like Vince Lombardi. I don't know how in the hell Huizenga found a coach worse than Wannstache and Satan, but, God bless him, he found one.

this dolphins defense, if it was ever elite, is definitely not elite any more.

Cam needs to step up and admit TG was a mistake. Otherwise he is admitting this is what we brought him in for. TG is over the hill and not coming back. Show some cajones Cam and do the right think now.

I've just talked to Ty Pennington, and he agrees; total extreme makeover for the Dolphins: new owner, new coaches, new players, new GM. By the way, Mike Tomlin sure looks pretty good right now.

Why start Green at this point? Seriously, this season is over. We should be using this pathetically ridiculous time to get some snaps for Beck.

pennington at 1 percent can still kill the dolphins

I have been a dolphin fan for over 30 years and only missed a few games. I am getting to the point that this is to painful to watch. It looks like the defense and special teams are going backwards.

NOT GOOD

Um, I predicted the Dolphins would lose last week and they did. So this is NOT my fault.

mando,
the defense feeds off the offense. not the other way around. if the offense would show up, the defense would do much better. that's my .02 anyway

Looks like th 'Fins are quitting again. Where did Daniels learn how to tackle? He just got punked.

Travis Daniels just proved that when he reaches between his legs all he feels is a big gaping hole.

He just got bitch slapped!

... And as if on cue, Jets recognize how soft Miami is up the middle. So the run Pennington, with a bad ankle, right up the middle.
