Live minicamp blogging starts at 2 p.m. Friday

The Dolphins open a three-day rookie minicamp Friday but it is interesting to me that rather than two-a-days on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the Dolphins are working only once Friday and once Sunday.

Saturday will be the only day the rooks go through two workouts. Friday and Sunday offer only single practices.

Don Shula (pictured) typically worked the rookies twice a day all three days so they could get their vomitting out of the way early. But what did he know; he only won 347 games.

I will be blogging live Friday starting promptly at 2 p.m. so join me then. This minicamp is closed to the public but I will be your eyes and ears to tell you what is going on assuming the Wifi at Dolphins camp remains reliable.

Some things I will be looking for:

1. How involved will Bill Parcells be at practice, if at all.

2. Can LT Jake Long get through the entire weekend without passing out. Seriously, he is said to be in great shape, but the South Florida heat has worn out many a great player down through the years. The heat down here is going only half-speed right now. We'll see if Long, at 318 lean pounds, can keep up.

3. I will be gauging QB Chad Henne's arm and release time and comparing it to John Beck.

4. Will DE Phillip Merling participate? He said he was feeling no ill effects from the hernia surgery and he worked out for scouts earlier. Will he work this weekend?

Armando,

Appreciate your watching out for us. I'm really interested in how Beck looks, and would appreciate your views.

I would love to see how the sonofa slugger looks as well as the other O-line dude. Whoever plays QB will only be as good as those guys up front. And let's see how the converted QB looks running routes too.

Please update us on the the new receivers, i.e. Davone Bess, Selwyn Lymon, and Jayson Foster. They all bring something different to the table and I believe at least one of them should catch on. Lymon was a top HS prospect with size and speed, and if he can stay out of trouble off the field could be a steal, along w/ the possible slot WR Davone Bess who has great hands.

Here video on one of the recievers we pick up from Georgia Southern I believe. I think we got something here.

I'm glad Parcell's isn't making them do two-a-days. Who cares about being in shape, being tough, and... winning.

Merling's playing weight at Clemson was at 272 pounds which would be great as a OLB in a 3-4. But you could be right as he could keep adding on the weight which he has already done due to the injury and play DE.

Devon Bess has an amazing ability to catch the ball and could end up becoming a steal for the dolphins. Armondo, can you update us on his performace this weekend?

What's the deal with the new required registration for the site? Tell the genius in management that came up with that one, I'm headed over to the sentinel. Too bad. I preferred the herald.

What does it matter what Don Shula did? He isn't the coach. I love Shula, but in fairness, Bill Parcells has won as many Super Bowls as Shula, and Parcells did it in a time when there were more teams in the league. Honestly, stop being a baby about this regime.

Armando, check and see if Kelly Popinga is aware that he has a girl's first name and spanish pecker for a last name. If that guy grows up in miami he changes his name to something less shocking. Kelly Morronga maybe.

Hi Armando, could you also take a look at the running back Parmalee and see how he looks.I also like the fact you will be looking at Henne vs Beck.I really hope Henne can clinch the job and we hopefully have a QB of the future with him.

Hey Armando,

"Don Shula (pictured) typically worked the rookies twice a day all three days so they could get their vomitting out of the way early. But what did he know; he only won 347 games."

Mando, Mando, Mando .... you're a bright guy, why do you feel the need to whine 2-3 times a week? Let these guys get a season or two in before judging, OK? I love Shula to death, but he wasn't perfect either. How 'bout that "great" defense he built to go along w/ Danny's greatness (rolling eyes repeatedly).

Yes, I'm interested in how much Bill participates, but also could you tell us what Sparano is doing? He's kind of in the background, and this is his chance to step up.

Also, very interested in Henne and Bess.

I'll be working until late and then I'll check your blog. Any info is great!

Armando - as best I can tell, the University of Michigan's graduation ceremony was last Saturday. In the past, it seemed as if rookies were not able to participate in any team activities except this one minicamp until their graduation ceremonies were held. Given that Jake Long has already signed a contract, will he be participating in all of the regular team functions from this point forward? Thanks.

Omar is dominating you as a beat writer. Not only is his blog more creative and fact filled; he isn't the gossip monger, attention craved crap writer that you are. The funny thing is when I asked his opinion of you he gracioiusly bowed out and said he respected you. I seriously doubt anybody else in Miami does, including the Dolphins management. You blew the J.T. story way out of proportion only for your personal gain. I saw your cheesy smile on ESPN.. Hope you are getting what you want! Karma my friend. Think about doing some real journalism, it may pay dividends eventually.
Have a great day!

Sooo, let me get this straight... You hate me but you come on my blog, you watch me on ESPN, you read my stories to determine that I am a gossip monger, and you spend time asking Omar about me on his blog.

Dude, get over me. I'm married.

I originally read your blog to gather information regarding the Dolphins, the team I love. I was appalled by the story that you posted. I couldn't believe Jason Taylor and the Dolphins would both be acting in such a manner. After discussing the situation with a few other sports writers, they all tend to agree that you and your friends here at the Herald blew the story up during this down time for personal gain. I've read a couple of your other blogs and a lot of it is garbage. I saw you on ESPN out of pure coincidence. Trust me though; I didn't listen to a word you said. I did ask Omar, out of curiousity. I wanted to see if his opinion(which I value) was the same as several of your peers. I seem to think he feels you are a rat but he didn't say that. I won't post on any of your blogs again, just wanted to let you know you are getting dominated.

Alright I'm down tearing Armando to shreds. If anybody wants to get some real insight on Dolphin football head over to sunsentinel.com and click on the blog for todays rookie mini-camp. Omar Kelly will be doing a live blog.
Armando have fun! Maybe you can write a column about how Jake Long already doesn't like JT because JT doesn't like Parcells. Great drama story to hang everybody over 'til the next mini-camp.
