Let's see your opinion of Ricky's future with Miami

I think you guys know what I think will happen with Ricky Williams. If you don't, read my column here and find out: http://www.miamiherald.com/616/story/192680.html

Or here's an idea: Spend a freakin' quarter and buy the paper you cheapos!!!!

Anyway, I think his days with the Dolphins are over. But I also know not everybody agrees with me because you guys think you know more about how the Dolphins operate than me (unfortunately, sometimes you do.) But I digress.

The point is since I've given you my opinion in my column, I'm going to let you guys give me your opinion in my blog.

Keep your insults of me to only a dozen please. After that I start to feel unappreciated.

Ricky's future with Miami is simple. HE HAS NO FUTURE. The Dolphins have been "burned" by Ricky way too many times. I don't know how the Dolphins organization could ever trust him again. If he didn't have a positive test, before last reinstatment, maybe this would be a different story. However, any story with Ricky, always has to involve some kind of "curveball." I don't want too see Ricky back with the Dolphins, I would hate to have another season of Dolphins football "go up in smoke" because of Ricky's abscense. He's totally unreliable.

Besides, he has a nice life living and teaching yoga at the ashram in Grass Valley. Let the man be at peace, and do what he seems to have a passion for. Ricky Williams may have been physically blessed and built for football, but deep inside Ricky Williams lies, a spiritual, philisophical, introverted, and shy soul that longs for a life away from the glaring spotlight of Heisman Trophy's, NFL Rushing Records, and all of the celebrity that comes with it. Have a nice life, Ricky.

Selfishly, I'd like to see Ricky suit up based on talent alone. We all know this offense could use the lift. However, this will not happen. Ricky has proven time and time again that he has no interest in football or in the Dolphins. His precense is great when he is playing, but nobody knows how long that will be.

You did a great job of pointing out the similarities between Cam's stance on Ricky and DC. I also think his silence speaks volumes. I used to hate Ricky for walking away, now I'd just rather he stay there. Unless he was the ONE missing piece we had (which we all know he isn't), there is no reason to pin hopes or expectations on a player and person with no interest in even trying to meet them. Like my many ex-girlfriends, I'm over you Ricky. I don't wish you any hard times, but don't expect me to care too much if you have some.

Ricky has no future w/the Dolphins under Cam. Cam's rebuilding for the long-term & doesn't have time for short-term nonsense. Ricky may have a shot w/the Raiders just like Daunte.

There's nothing the team can do until Sept or Oct if he's reinstated. Plus Randy has the responsibility to try getting some value for him. He's in the same boat as w/Daunte. But I'm glad that the team is cutting their losses & unloading the headaches. Ricky's future w/the Dolphins is paying off the contract he originally breached.

i don't think Cameron has the balls to be a head coach in this league. he will do worse than saban, if what he has done so far is any indication of the future

Ricky is gone one way or the other. Cam doesn't want him, Randy wants to trade him again. He can't be reinstated to sept. which I think will be the perfect time to trade him. Players are already getting banged up. Teams will become desperate for a rb and all they'll remember is ricky ripping off huge chunks of yardage the last time he played. His value will skyrocket as long as you don't let him suit up for the phins. Keep him inactive because it could only hurt his value if he plays.

Hypocrits! You are all crucifying Ricky for what most of you have done (Probably Armando also). The NFL is not a government law enforcement agency, Ricky has never been arrested for anything.

The NFL has no business discriminating against someone with Social Anxiety Disorder who uses marijuana, arguably it is the safest most effective treatment available.

Give the guy another shot with the dolphins. He's earned it on the field. Everyone has some type of problem or another. Just make it clear to him that he in not coming back onto the field until he is totally well.

Honestly, what is wrong with you Dolfans??? You ran Shula out of town because you felt he was not good enough and ridiculed him, along with Marino. You all complained wanting Jimmy Johnson and got him, and he ruined the team with his ego. Now we have a guy, who walked out on the Dolphins, their players, their fans and the who entire organization. He does not take football seriously, as he keeps breaking the rules, and you all miss him and welcome him back with open arms??? PLEASE...I do not believe in forgiving someone who slapped this entire team in the face. Just to go off and smoke pot. Smoking pot is more important than the game of football. I say, dont let the door hit him in the ass when he leaves. If you cant cherish the game for what it is, and respect the rules, then go to another league and team and abuse them.

Its ashame, because Ricky could help the Dolphins win a lot of games.

Whatever happened to tolerance and maturity in Dolphinland? It would be great to see the team give players second chances now and then.

Just like Daunte, Ricky will catch on with someone else and make Dolfans cry at the lame leadership the Dolphins have nowadays.

Ricky has had plenty of chances. He's had third chances, fourth chances, fifth chances, sixth chances, etc. How many chances do some of you want to give Ricky??? It's obvious that the man no longer wants to be a professional football player. It's sad too see that kind of talent go to waste, but it is what is. Coach Cameron and Randy Mueller are doing the right thing by moving away from Ricky.

To Kurt in Tampa-

You are wrong. Dead Wrong. Ricky has not done what MOST of us has.

Did you get paid MILLIONS of dollars to play a game? Did you get one chance, second chance, third chance and yet a fourth chance to thumb your nose at the rules of the league that you signed a contract to obey those rules?

Did you let your teammates and fans down not once, but twice,no THREE times after being paid part of said MILLIONS?

Do you have three kids by three women, all of whom you refuse to marry?

Screw Ricky Williams and all the apologists out there like you. I, and I dare say most like me, HAVE NOT done anything like he has.

He may be "cool", he may be likeable, he might even be "intelligent", but he is a poor excuse for a father and a team player.

ARMANDO: HERE'S THE WAY TO FIND OUT WHAT CAM REALLY THINKS ABOUT DAUNTE AS A QUARTERBACK. ASK HIM THIS:

WHEN DAUNTE WAS HEALTHY, AND PLAYING REGULARLY AT MINNESOTA, WHAT WAS YOUR OPINION OF HIM AS A QUARTERBACK? WHAT DID YOU LIKE OR NOT LIKE ABOUT THE WAY HE PLAYED?

THATS HOW WE WILL FIND OUT WHY DAUNTE WAS GIVEN THE AXE. THE INJURY EXCUSE ABOUT NEVER HAVING THE CHANCE TO EVALUATE DAUNTE IS CLEARLY BULLSHIT.

Ricky Williams is a tremendous talent on the field. When there are no running lanes, the man just plows through anyways. He is not afraid of getting hit. Ricky's accomplishments with the Dolphins are remarkable, especially considering the bad O-Line's he had blocking for him. Today that's pretty rare to see.

Ricky is fundamentally a good guy. Reality is I find it amazing that Ricky wouldn't be allowed to play football over smoking marijuana when someone like Leonard Little is still allowed to play even after he killed someone in a DUI accident! Tell me what's worse? What Ricky does is totally inocuous and is in fact he own business!

In my view, the Dolphins should try to get the most out of that $8 mil contract that they still have on Ricky. After all, he might be worth 2 or 3 victories, maybe more, for every season he plays. I have my doubts though that Cam will have him back, perhaps because he wants to move on or perhaps because he doesn't want to be left on the hook like Wannedstat and Saban were. That's understandable too, but if the Commissioner allows him to play football again, and that's questionable, a 50-50 proposition, I would advise the Dolphins to get as much mileage from Ricky as possible as a backup to Ronnie Brown. After all, what else do they have to lose? They have that contract, might as well gain a few extra yards on them

Honestly the Dolphins could really use Ricky, he has tremendous talent. His running ability is far better than Ronnie Brown. You can't get anything for him, so why just cut a guy with so much talent. If Cam let's him back he will see he could be their best back.

Let Ricky Run!! So what! He smoked a couple joints, had sex with a few women, like none of you out there EVER did anything as horrible as that. He IS the best running back in the NFL. At least he doesnt like to watch dogs kill each other. At least he doesnt like to drive drunk in a car and kill someone, at least he doesnt go into a strip bar with his fellow "gangstas" and leave with someone paralized from the waist down.
Ronnie Brown will never be the back Ricky Williams was and can still be. Cam will never be this teams future coach. Neither will Randy M. This years draft picks were just plain stupid. Ginn was hurt celebrating in the end-zone at the nat'l championship and Brady Quinn was available. This told me what the new coach was about. For that matter it tells me what Wayne is about. I think age is starting to catch up with him. LET RICKY PLAY FOR THE DOLPHINS,GO DOLPHINS!! p.s. you suck armando.

While I believe what WILL happen is that he's done.

However, everyone is worried about this "roster spot" that will have to be given up if for some odd reason, he was able to join the team again. Who cares if somebody unproductive gets cut or moved to the practice squad? If Ricky did come and back and produced, nobody would care.

Also, injuries have a way of making players look intriguing again. When Ricky was on the field, the man delivered. He did pull a Randy Moss ever. He hit and took hits like nobody's business.

He's an odd individual and walks to his own song....a song that doesn't see eye to eye with the NFL's rules regarding substance abuse. He's not doing steroids for goodness sakes. He didn't do anything for competitive advantage. Why doesn't the NBA test for weed?? Anyhow, just rambling now.....

I'd like to see Ricky suit up again....but....it won't be for the Fins.

I can't believe some jackass is still crying over Daunte Culpepper. Word of advice to said jackass....time for you to become a Raider fan. So jackass, didn't you think it was peculiar that DC said he wanted to play in Florida but neither team would sign him? Did you wonder why eventhough the Bucs are in need of a decent QB they still passed on DC? Did you wonder why the Jags told their QBS they were probably going to bring him in and then changed their minds? Did you wonder why the Falcons decided to go with Joey "f'ing" Harrington and didn't even talk to DC? Are you at all curious why every team in the NFL (except the worst team and laughing stock Oakland Raiders) had no interest? These are all questions I would think you would be more interested in having answered yet you want to know what Cameron thought of Daunte when he played in Minnesota?! LOL. You are truly clueless.

I'm surprised at all the people who want to give Ricky another chance. Remembering how many times Ricky has let the fans and his teammates down, I find it hard to believe that anyone would want to go through that again. Sure he's a great back but I for one don't ever want to turn on the TV and see a picture of RW in a Dolphins uniform next to a caption that says he failed another drug test. Fool us once shame on you, fool us twice shame on us, fool us three times we're complete fools, fools us four times, what the f**k!? And now some of you want to go for a fifth time? WOW.

Some of you guys are crackheads. Look, Ricky is a great talent, no doubt about it. We've seen in the past that he can help us win games. HOWEVER, the bottom line with Ricky is that he is totally unreliable! Ricky Williams no longer has a passion for football, his passion now lies with a deep, spiritual, physically, mentally, life enriching practice known as yoga.

Ricky has a nice, peaceful, and quiet life out at the ashram in Grass Valley, California. Ricky has moved on, and so should we. That my friends, is the real deal!

I always thought Ricky was gay; same as Armando.. who cares about Ricky... lets all move on.. release him and let him move out of Miami.. The only that would be affected is the illegal drug market..sales will be down once Ricky moves out of Miami...

nyscott,
whats up your a-hole, buddy. you like to be an idiot, it seems. you're an idiot as a person, and you're an idiot when it comes to football. a-hole, daunte was offered a contract by jacksonville. a-hole, your taking a lot up your a-hole from your queer homies seems to have confused. did you know daunte culpepper is a former pro bowl quarterback who was and still is considered one of the elite at his position when healthy? fag, did you know that daunte passed his phsyical with oakland with no problem? faggie, you been taking too much up yours, relax and see reality. daunte culpepper is one of the best in the game and better than anyone on the current dolphins roster.
easy.
before you comment next time, nyscott, know your subject.

Mando,
As a fan, I want to know if my team plans to move on Pete Kendal if and when he becomes available. I want to know all the specifics of Joey Porter's knee injury from two or more medical sources. I want to discuss if the team I've loved since conception continues to look ridiculous when it comes to the business side of football for guaranteeing a star linebacker with a bum knee 20 million dollars. Did they know? How did he pass his physical? Why is this medical staff so god-damn inept and when does Huizenga plan to do something about it? I want to know what it says to Wayne, that despite his heart always being in the right place, he's managed to leisurely spoil one of the most storied and winningest franchises in NFL history. I'm giving you gold here Mando. Scoop it out.

And for all the haters out there I notice one thing about your comments, You guys have alot of hate built up inside, you guys blow up anytime a fan trys to support a player they like its hilarious!!!I have a question for you all..... Is only ok for us to consider current Dolphins as good players , we can't like other NFL players as well??? Its called being a sports fan, you have one team you like and players throughout the league that you like as well just because they are great players!!!!! You chumps need to chill out and give respect where its due!!!!!!!!

ricky williams, dolphins running back, failed a drug test. so f-cking what?

we all got our personal issues. and smoking marijuana in my book is not a high felony. its safer than drinking the various alcholic beverages, and many times safer than cigarettes.

if the man, however, has earned the right to come back by the nfl, he deserves the right to play for the dolphins again. the nfl is hardly gonna re-instate him again if he is not truly on the right track.

as a person, and as a football player, ricky is first class. but, we can't say the same thing about cam and company, i.e. we can't say they're first class, so of course ricky won't be back.

If you think about it logically ....

Although Ricky is a GREAT football player, he can never help us, he'll flake out again & again ... so it doesn't matter. Ricky's on the character-flawed deep-discount rack. Each team should make their own risk/reward decisions.

(site also has a picture of Ricky with a jug of Weed-B-Gone)

BTW ... I live in SF area & yoga schools are a home or strip mall biz with very ave. cash flow.

ITS COMING OUT OF OUR HIDE!!!
I'm against all these commissioner rules, the law should take care of illegal stuff & each team needs to make biz decisions just like OUR workplaces.

If you haven't figured it out, the commissioner & NFL meddling is just to squeeze more money out of US FANS by keeping their marketing pristine. Look at NFL & all sports the last couple decades ... all decisions are made to milk the fans through skyrocketing prices. Yuppies are replacing the true fans with expensive tickets & pay-per-view.

Ditto for the Union & all the needy ex-NFLers. Yes I wish they were all healthy, but they made MORE money than 99.9% of us. Where will this money come from to help them ... fan's pockets of hard-earned $.

Guess we true football fans need a union!!!

Go Phins!! Cheers, JerryD

I highly doubt Ricky will be reinstated into the NFL. If by some chance he is, I think you cross that bridge when it happens. Depending on what is offered for him it might be a good move to trade him. It might be better to keep him and give Ronnie help in the backfield. He is too unpredictable to rely on more then as a part time back. If he is still capable of producing you dont just throw away resources just because of his history. Like it or not we are stuck with his rights. You use him as best as you can.
