Live International blogging today

LONDON -- Wembley Stadium is amazing. It is cavernous, modern, and unlike most new stadiums that separate the fans from the action, the stands are quite close to the field here.

So it is very, very loud.

The Dolphins have announced their inactives for the game. They are: Travares Tillman, Zach Thomas, David Martin, Anthony Bryant, Vonnie Holliday, Sam Rayburn and Quentin Moses.

This means Lorenzo Booker, the secret weapon, will finally be active today for the first time. It remains to be seen whether he'll play or not -- maybe on kick returns. Jason Allen makes his first NFL start today so his clock is running. He must play well the final nine games of the season to keep from being labeled a bust.

Justin Peelle starts for Martin, who is out with a groin injury. It's amazing that Trent Green came to the Dolphins with the concern he had had a concussion and he suffers a concussion. Martin came to the Dolphins with a history of suffering minor muscle injuries such as groin and hamstring problems. So, of course, he's got a groin injury now.

Anyway, we will have live blogging today as during every game. When the game begins at 5 p.m. (London time) you can meet me in the comment section for the in-game commentary. Wear a jacket as it is cold and drizzly.

Hey Mando,

Are you able to fix the blog so we don't have to scroll down for new posts?

Also hows the weather over there? Lance there yet? will he be playing? (i know he only signed 3 days ago) but can always hope :)

The biggest round of cheers so far in the pregame has been, predictably, for the cheerleaders.

The Gints don't have cheerleaders -- at least not here.

Mando, hows it feel to be at "home" in a sold out stadium?

12:55 PM

this place rocks. There's about an equal split of NY and Miami fans, but that's better than it would have been at Dolphin Stadium. In that regard, moving the game here was genius for the Dolphins.

Dolphins first down. If the Dolphins can basically run the ball all day, the Gints offense won't be as productive.

1:07 PM

First passing down situation and safe pass to Justin Peelle, who has easily outplayed David Martin this year, in my opinion.

1:09 PM

Good protection on that first down pass. I appreciate Cam Cameron's aggressiveness, but you guys ever notice how he goes AWAY from the run even when it's working well?

1:16 PM

It's interesting the Dolphins have (sort of) resolved their run defense issues but their pass defense is now the weakest part of the team.

1:17 PM
Blogger Armando Salguero said...

On cue, Cam Worrell gets beat for 13 yards.

1:17 PM
Blogger Armando Salguero said...

Cameron Worrell is the worst. On that long pass to Burress, instead of helping deep, he went over to help on Shockey running an intermediate route. Luckily Lehan made the paly 1 on 1.

Watching the Dolphins safeties is disgusting. They bite on play action passes, like that incompletion. They go the wrong way as I pointed out with Worrell. And Jason Allen has already taken bad angles to tackles twice on this drive alone.

PLAXICO IS TALLER THAN MOSS, GIANTS WILL CONTINUE THROWING "JUMP BALLS" TO BURESS BECAUSE THEY KNOW EVENTUALLY THEY WILL HIT WITH ONE. WILL ALLEN DID A GREAT JOB ON THAT LAST ONE. BURESS SHOULD ALREADY HAVE A TOUCHDOWN, AND FORGET ABOUT WHEN THE GIANTS ARE IN THE RED ZONE; FROM NOW ON OUT THEY WILL JUST THROW THE "JUMP FADE" TO PLAX WATCH. WE HAVE TO GET IN ELI'S FACE AND DISRUPT THE TIMING.

1:38 PM
Blogger Armando Salguero said...

thank goodness for the Dolphins the Giants aren't really attacking the deep secondary. On third and 4, they're trying a tight end screen that blows up in their faces.

1:38 PM

While the chatter is out there to get rid of Cameron and/or Mueller...I have to say that I am somewhat impressed with the dynamics of the offense that we haven't seen since Marino. The defense had to decline eventually. I think that we keep both.

Let me set the record straight here: The "chatter" about hiring Parcells or Cowher has come from people who A. Were purely speculating. B. Talked to a friend or agent of Parcells whose agenda would always be to say Parcells is interested because that means a check coming his way.

The only guy that counts in all this is Huizenga and he's told me he's not in any rush to make a decision or replace anyone as things stand now.

2:07 PM
Blogger Armando Salguero said...

I'm actually amazed this game is only 3-0 now. The Dolphins are clearly the inferior team but, as someone just pointed out, Eli Manning is way off the mark today. Maybe the fact it's raining in waves has something to do with that.

second half:
ginn returns kickoff 97 yds for a td but a phantom holding call on opposite side of field is called.
next, jason taylor hits eli from his blind side and fumbles, crowder picks it up and runs it in but flag throwned, unnessesary roughness on jason for hitting eli helmut to helmut?!
next oppurtunity jason taylor picks off slant to burress and returns it for 6 but hold the phone, holding on cam worrell . . .
and the misery continues . .at least we have the hottest cheerleaders! and girls love the miami dolphins! (colors)

The Dolphins have no answer on passing downs, and Cleo keeps proving that he is a backup. That fumble looked like bad weather affected him, but I also think he got scared when he saw Strahan bearing down on him, and he flinched. I say let him finish this embarrassment, and play Beck after the bye week.

In these conditions, even with the O-Line looking great, and providing pass protection, you risk exposing Beck to a serious injury in a game that we obviously are not going to win (barring a miracle, or John Beck). Smarter to give him two more weeks, and load him up on Buffalo Bills game film.

Also wouldn't hurt to do the same with the Secondary. They need every minute to prepare, or it will be another slaughter. No answer on passing downs. Very sad to watch.

Chatman has looked great, and I am seeing better hands from the Receivers too.

Here's to a miracle 4th quarter finish...!

#1 Is Jesse Chatman a free agent after this year? If he is, we need to re-sign him, he seems a playmaker.
#2 Wes Welker is going to torch us for the next 5-6 years in a row. The more time passes, the more I despise that move above all others (20 mil for Porter, a 5th rounder for Green, Ginn as the 1st pick, etc.)

second half:
ginn returns kickoff 97 yds for a td but a phantom holding call on opposite side of field is called.
next, jason taylor hits eli from his blind side and fumbles, crowder picks it up and runs it in but flag thrown, unnessesary roughness on jason for hitting eli helmut to helmut?!
next oppurtunity jason allen picks off slant to burress and returns it for 6 but hold the phone, holding on cam worrell . . .
and the misery continues . .at least we have the hottest cheerleaders!

Would you clowns be happier if Cam started panicking, yelling and screaming at the players? For me, I would rather that he keep his head, keep his team in the game and keep trying to win.

You people are fools.

Go Cam!

this game is an embarassment to my country, my team, and the league. Me thinks the brits will stick with soccer after this debacle. If scam doesn't start beck after the bye then he should be shitcanned.

For the sake of avoiding injury can the NFL just exempt the Dolphins from playing their remaining games and call us 0-16 and just award us the no. 1 pick?

YES, I'd rather have a Parcells or Gruden-type coach that lights a fire under his player's asses. One like in "Remember the Titans"; Miss a block, you run a lap, miss a tackle you run a lap, fumble the ball, pick it up and run......

Marc, maybe it's time you come out of the closet. I've heard that you tend to live a "fabulous" and flamboyant lifestyle. Come out with full force, wearing that Tom Brady jersey. You know you've been dying too for years.

Fumble recovery. Nice hit by Roth. Damn finally something goes the Dolphins way.

What? No penalty?

Good job by Roth there. He now has two sacks on the year.

Eli's cappiness is the only reason this game is as close as it seems.

How the hell are the Giants 5-2? If those clowns could execute at all we would be down by 30! As down as I am on coaching, management, and ownership, the fins could still steal this one, mostly due to the almost equal ineptitude of the other guys.

I don't believe this but the Dolphins might win this one. Ted Ginn is going to score the game winner bank on it!

And if God is Phins fan, Beck will throw it.

Terrible game for Eli. Especially considering he has Plax, Shockey, & Toomer to throw to.
