ESPN: Mueller "on the way out"

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that Bill Parcells will fire general manager Randy Mueller.

While this is not a revelation because practically everyone has figured Parcells was about to clean house in the Dolphins front office, the part that was a little stunning is that Mortensen said the move would happen sooner rather than later.

That suggests Parcells might move Mueller out before the April draft, which has been the logical time for Mueller's departure. Parcells is interested in hiring Dallas personnel man Jeff Ireland and will attempt to do exactly that.

But the Cowboys aren't going to let Ireland go -- if at all -- until after the April draft. If Parcells fires Mueller before April and cannot bring Ireland on until after April, he will be behind the eight ball in conducting the draft.

Mueller, you see, has spent the past four months scouting and compiling information. And he's not simply going to sit down and regurgitate that information for Parcells as he's being told to exit. So the timing seems odd.

Anyway, Parcells is sitting in booth some 20 feet from where I'm now sitting. He's got former Green Bay GM Ron Wolf in there with him. Wolf, a buddy of Parcells', isn't here to take a Dolphins job. At least he has denied being interested in one at least a dozen times in the past month. He's here to serve as a second set of eyes for Parcells.

There will be the usual live blog in the comments section today. Before heading over there, you should know that Keith Traylor is out today and Steve Fifita starts in his place.

OK, join me for the live blog ...

That tells you what Parcells thinks of Randy's previous personnel moves. He rather not even hear what Mueller thinks of anyone for the upcoming draft!

Steve Fifita sucks. Anyways, that's interesting that Ron Wolf is here with Parcells. It's probably nothing, but maybe Parcells would look to him as a "consultant" much like the Texans did with Dan Reeves a couple years back.

I should tell you, the theory is that if the Dolphins win today, it might help Cam Cameron's cause. Well, if they beat the Bengals today, it might cause Parcells to ask, why couldn't they do this more often this year?

Mando -

I would think Beck starts the second half no matter what. I mean shouldn't Parcells get a look at him before any draft decisions. I know Beck is not going anywhere. We can't trade him for any value. But how can he be evaluated on what he has done? Or is the need for evaluating Lemon more important?

Thanks Mando. I wish I could "see" anything. In Sweden today we have the New Orleans game.

Why is that so difficult for 16 full games?

Ouch. Will the team fold now? I gotta believe that will be one thing Parcells will look at. Can Cameron keep them up for the whole game. I have to say he has done a good job at keeping them together up until now. But if they fall behind by 10 or more I think they will roll over and look for their tackle box.

1:25 PM

The Bengals converted four thrid down plays on that drive, including the TD pass.

Third down is the big play drive. The Miami D? No big play performances this year.

With there already talk of Mueller being on the way out, how does this affect his performance from here on? Does he try to fight for his job and perform at 100% or does he dig us into a hole through inaction and negligent mismanagement? I can't see how this early news can benefit the team.

Guys, I know you are up in arms about Beck, but I don't think he'll be the guy Parcells counts on at the start of next year anyway. He will go out and get a vet, let Beck compete with the guy, and make a dec on a future QB for 2009. My opinion.

Goodbye Beck

He looks overmatched. Can't even take a shotgun snap.

>Hey anonymass-hole:
BECK IS SOFT!!!!!!

How ironic that a silly blog can get under your skin so easily, and yet you are quick to judge a professional football player as 'soft'.

Maybe your moniker should be 'longisland softee'.

yeah i know beck lovers...he was warmed up enough. the snap was too hard for him

2:46 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Maybe Beck hasn't practiced with this center enough?

2:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

OMG, i'd say that Beck needs to throw 4 tds and win the game to make up for that one

2:48 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Oh my god... please bring back Culpi :-)

2:49 PM

No Long Island Iced tea the reason that he made a mistake is because HE IS A ROOKIE. Why aren't you understanding this?

>To all of the people who continue to use, "Cam-Moron" and "Ginns family".

I think the 'Ginn family' crap is all from one idiot.

There's your Beck everybody. I'm turning the game off. Did u see Parcels rolling his eyes? Beck is Gone...

2:50 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Our center is crap. He snaps the ball too hard. We need a change there...

Oh, and I think I have seen enough. Can I throw in the terrible towel I got with my program from the London game now?

ohhh sorry....beck made a mistake because he is a rookie.
got it, thanks.
i just expect my second round picks able to take clean snaps

Can we give Camarillo or Marty Booker a few snaps at QB?

2:52 PM

Derek Hagan is my most hated Dolphins player...easily

Nice punt! Now the Bengals can drive 99 yards on us!

2:53 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Not only is he a rookie but he's a rookie with broken confidence after being thrown to the wolves this season. It will take a strong minded coach to get him back to where he was in college. The consumate teammate who always put team ahead of selfish desires in order to win games. The same kid I watched play on two bum ankles and still out run a LB for a first down. The same kid I watched in college throw a block on a 345 lb DT and knock him on his ass. If you want to question his play so far that's one thing but NEVER question this kids toughness or heart.

Guys, I believe in being fair and giving a guy, especially a young one, the benefit of the doubt. But taking a shotgun snap from center is fundamental. That is not a rookie mistake. That is simply an awful mistake.

2:55 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

did someone say it was snapped to hard why dont you just put a skirt on.

rookie or not there is no excuse for not catching a snap

yes he is a rookie but quit making stupid excuses for him

Third down, Dolphins coming with a cornerback blitz. What a shock. Bet they'll do it again.

2:56 PM

Ok, I take it back. Beck is a rookie who hasn't played so he might not need to be gone. I'm afraid Cameron is toast though. All we can hope for now is for Jason Taylor to intercept and run back for 3 touchdowns!!

Was Miamis 3rd and 4, and on the Cincy sideline the Bengals' offensive players were already strapping on their helmets getting ready to go back on! Just goes to show how inept we are..

While I agree we are inept...thats what they are supposed to do. Its called being ready.

"YOU'RE SECOND ROUND PICKS"? See right there is the problem. You're one of those arm chair QBS who is unhappy in life because you are full of regret. You are so wrapped up in the Miami Dolphins that they have become your identity and a means for you to live vicariously through the players.

What about the comment by the announcers that Bill Cowart could possibly be the next Miami coach. They dismissed the fact that Cowart said that he wouldn't coach this coming year. Just struck me as odd since Cowart works for the same network.

Beck did not look this bad against Philly and Pit...even the Jets. I blame the staff for killing the guy's confidence to a point where we can whisper he can not get it back again. Too bad.

He looks awful

Jason Allen's an idiot. Celebrating a big hit on a WR who still caught the ball for a 15 yd reception.

3:07 PM

I think its a safe bet that Hagan wont be back next year, he drops too many passes, taking a QB high in the draft now looking a certainty, don't want to knock Beck too much but even other rookies have played better, Matt Moore in Carolina was undrafted but even hes played better. At this point I'd even trade JT to Cleveland for Brady Quinn thats how bad things are.
Cameron and Mueller are responsible for Beck one way or another which is why they have to go!! ASAP

Mandich on the radio, "They should call the arson squad out here because Dolphins secondary is getting torched so bad." Thank God game not on tv in Orlando. Have mercy on Jason Taylor; trade him and 1st pick for whole slew of picks.

Remember when Cam used the last preseason game to observe? He lost the headset and let Capers and Mularkey to coach...He is a dork

Yeah Beck sucks he should be gone. Same with Jason Taylor, he sucks and has done nothing to help this team win this year. While were at it Parcells should be fired because he's been here for two weeks and the team is still losing. Add Zach Thomas and Ronnie Brown to the list because they are veterans and should knw better than to get hurt. Lets fire the towel boy too, I didn't like the way he kind of nonchalantly handed that towel to Booker. Cheerleader that is 2 girls in should go too because her leg lifts are lacking in effort. Armando, you are next to go because if you had been a little more positive this year the players might have felt better and one a couple more games. Hell lets fire everyone, every year until we get this thing right. Light your torches boys and meet me at Dolphin stadium! ARRRGGHHHHHHH!

Your Fins suck so bad it's mind boggling ! Your team is rotten to the core . Parcells is going to have to blow the whole thing up to get rid of your ingrained loser mentality .

Are the Dolphins trying to win this game? They are handing off more often than not trailing 28-10.

3:14 PM

Armando, Beck is throwing to possibly the worst receiving corp in the league. Could this be the reason why he is having a hard time? You can't see it on tv but are guys getting open? Could it be that the offense sucks because so far three qbs have failed in it right? Is there any hope for kid Beck?

3:15 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Unfortunately Mando I am not sure they have a clue how to even try to win. I mean honestly you are 100% correct. What do we have to lose? Try anyhitng but at least act like you care for 15 more minutes.

The Dolphins defense should be fine for this series because the offense didn't score. So there is no pressure on them to hold the Bengals.

If anyone should know about a loser mentality it's some one from Boston. 35 years of the Patriots sucking is far worse than the 6 years we have endured with our phins. And how long did you people wait for the Red sux to win a couple. Yep, you would be an expert at pointing out loser mentalities. Even after te Sux won the series the players were holding up signs (at the parade) about the Yankees and what they might be doing at the time,,like fishing. Thanks for the free advertising losers!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA,,NYGUY
