Game day against the Jaguars

It is incredible to me that the rumors about Nick Saban going to Alabama are like a virus that will not die -- even in the face of Saban's vehement denial of any interest in the job.

Today the Huntsville Times is reporting Saban is expected to interview for the job this week. Ridiculous.

This is a guy who wouldn't go across town during training camp to have dinner with the President but he's going to take time out during his preparations for the New England Patriots to interview for another job.

Saban has not commented on the report before today's game. As Harvey Greene, the PR guy for the Dolphins told me, if it were the New York Times reporting this, he'd ask Saban for a statement.

The Huntsville Times? Not happening.

Saban will be asked after the game and deny the thing again. I believe he will and believe his sincerity.

As for today's game: It now seems clear that Travis Daniels has lost his starting cornerback job to Andre' Goodman.

Today marks the first time in nearly five weeks that Goodman, Will Allen and Daniels are all healthy. And it will be Allen and Goodman starting for Miami while Daniels comes off the bench in nickel and dime packages.

As I sit here, the Jets are pounding Green Bay, New England is showing little interest in beating Detroit despite their game being tied, and the Bills are trying to mount a comeback against San Diego, which I believe is the most complete team in the AFC.

That simply tells me the Dolphins have little security of beating any of these three division rivals in the coming weeks. The Dolphins lost the first meeting against all three and it says here they'll probably be under .500 in the rematches.

Your take?

finally it's over! FINS WILL NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS GUARANTEED! JOEY IS NOT THE ANSWER! IT'S OBVIOUS!DAUNTE IS EVEN MORE OF AN ENIGMA!DEFENSE LOOKS OLD! OFFENCE LOOKS IMPOTENT!TRUE TEST OF SABAN'S METTLE WILL COME IN THE NEXT MONTH WHEN HE WILL HAVE TO COME TO GRIPS WITH THE FACT THAT HE MADE SOME BBADD DECISIONS IN THE OFFSEASON AND EITHER ADMIT IT AND MAKE MAJOR CHANGES OR TRY AND SAVE FACE AND DO LITTLE OR NOTHING(MY PREDICTION)AND BASICAKLLY FIELD THE SAME CRAP TEAM NEXT YEAR!

I sat in that stadium yesterday and watched a decent team totally dismantle a team I've watched for almost 45 years. For the first time I felt like they (the caoches)must have taken the jags as someone that doesn't win on the road and started preparing for NE. We never realized that Garrard throws, runs and throws, and fakes and throws. We seemed caught off guard every damn time. And for get halftime adjustments, they didn't need them and we didn't make them.
I don't think Joey can see the field. think he also doesn't look away the DBs. He does however think he is Marino and Elway and believe he can force the ball into triple coverage and get a reception. I watched him overlook 2 to 3 open recievers and throw to a covered up reciever probably 15 to 20 times. If he took a step everytime he got happy feet and got flustered Joey would have run for 200 yards. he is so afraid of getting hit he can't focus on his recievers. We don't have an offensive coordinator that can from a game plan based on the talent he has, of course it looks as if he doesn't have a plan anyway just sort of hopes something will work. i am not a coach but I knew that Sammy wasn't gonna run in the middle against the 2 biggest DTs in the league. Mularkey should hit the film room or maybe the road.

Hey Bobby,

This is a sports blog...There are no students here. It is about the Miami FOOTBALL Dolphins, not how the bottlenose dolphin was created. Armando was just wishing us happy thanksgiving. Everyone can believe what they want. I can't believe you typed that huge post that no one gives a shit about. You have way too much time on your hands. Why don't you re-tape the middle of your glasses or shop online for a new pocket protector instead of ruining this sports blog. If you are going to post try using your intellect to come up with a theory on how to be succesful in the NFL and send a copy to Dolphins' management while your at it. Look my intention is not to insult your smarts, I'm sure your theory is accurate, but you are in the wrong forum.

Also Armando, is there a way to block people from posting this huge entries from other blogs? It is starting to get annoying.

why! why! why! why! why did saban wait until teams were practically drawing up gameplans to exploit tillman at safety before he pulled him? why did saban waste a no.2 on a qb who could very well never play another meaningfull game in this league, and likely would have been cut and available for nothing?why is donnie spagan still in the starting lineup?why did he do nothing to beef up an offensive line that was clearly amoung the leagues worst last year?why did he force another coaches offense on his new co-ordinator(has this ever been done before)?why did he rush a clearly still gimpy qb back into the lineup?why haven't we seen either of the so-called talented young dt's in the line-up yet?why haven't they tried to move chambers around more?why is olindo still here?why/why? why/ why?

Armando,

Now that the playoffs are officially out of reach I was wondering if the Dolphins were going to focus on next year. I have a few things I have thought of and would like your thoughts. As always, I know neither the players or coaches want to think this way but will they?

1. Get a good look at Cleo Lemon - Harrington is just another Jay Fielder, he can not lose you some games but will probably not win you many. He is not the answer so they probably cannot have him and Culpepper on the roster next year b/c salary cap considerations. The Fins need to figure out if Cleo is a viable NFL QB somehow and the next few weeks seem like a good way to do it.

2. I know Jason Allen got beat a few times this past weekend but lets keep the young guys out there on defense. Eventually JT will not be able to play every down and someone needs to replace him.

3. Get the younger WRs some more game time. If that means going to more 4 and 5 Wr sets so be it. Lets see if Hagans can learn to catch and if Vick can exploit his atheletic ability as a WR. We all know Welker has stepped up as a WR but let Vick return kicks and see if he can relieve Welker of that (I realize Vick is normally not active).

4. Figure out the OL and get people in the places they see them long term if that has not already been done.

Those are just some off the cuff thoughts. I know you have some more. Thanks for the work on this blog.
