Zach inactive, live blogging during the game

I will be on the net with a play-by-play commentary of the game today so join me in the commentary section and let me know what you think.

This is a big day for the Dolphins defense. Today will tell us if there is any hope for this unit this year or if the decline is in full bloom. Why?

No. 1 The Raiders come into today wanting/expecting to run the ball. The Dolphins come into today wanting/expecting to stop the run. The Dolphins MUST impose their will on Oakland in this fundamental strategic portion of the game in order to give the Dolphins a chance to win.

No. 2 Daunte Culpepper starts for Oakland. He is a statue. So the Dolphins, which have been poor at applying pressure to the quarterback, should be able to do it against Culpepper. If they cannot do it today, they simply won't be able to do it this year.

No. 3 Defensive coordinator Dom Capers will blitz and zone blitz more today than he has all season. It's about time. The players must convince Capers they can be trusted so he'll continue to do this.

No. 4 Zach Thomas will not play today. He is inactive. Channing Crowder has to step up. It's a big day for him.

I love the Fins but would love to see C-Pep throw for 600 yards and run for 120 more in a 52-45 Dolphins win over the Raiders. Ronnie Brown - 205 yards rushing and 4 TDs. Ted Ginn - 2 TDs. Chambers - 1 rushing TD on a reverse. Trent Green - 3 for 35 for 5 yards and 3 picks.

Cameron is a sanctimonious moron who puts himself on a pedestal supported by L.T., Gates, and Brees. Values and loyalty don't win NFL games. Good coaching and good players do. Idiot.

All good points. One more - The O-line and Ronnie must show that last week wasn't a fluke, but the beginning of a habit.

I was reviewing Ronnie's runs this year and I noticed my favorite Samoan, #45, is a bad lead blocker for Ronnie. The guy Reagan is supposed to block is usually the one who tackles Ronnie. Armando - what's your take on Reagan?

12:51 PM

Oakland will play a weak to average game and still win. Miami won't be a competetive team until 2010.

I'm afraid the defense will not play well for a full game all season. Porter was not the answer, he needs a strong supporting cast to play his game. He ain't got jack to support him in Miami.

12:57 PM
Blogger Armando Salguero said...

I haven't thought too much of Reagan's blocking. He is hit-and-usually miss. But he's had that broken hand and wore a cast the first three weeks, so to say that will be who he is would be unfair

It is pouring but they are not covering the infield dirt. When this game finally gets going, that section of the field is going to be a nightmare.

OK, now the groundskeepers are starting to role the tarp over the field.

Armando - Raiders could have been 3-0 had it not been for Mr McClown :) - well then it would have been diff to say 2 bad teams. Although I agree they not the best 2 teams.

Once teams get back on the field, whenever that is, after this lightning delay, teams will have five minutes to warm up.

Suggestion - Have the blog auto update so you don't have to keep refreshing the screen. Also, have the messages be sorted so the most recent message is on top. Both of these things are quite easy to do with the today's web technology.

Donnie Spragan, by the way, is working in for Crowder. Here comes a 52 yard field goal.

Wait, Oakland asking for a review of the spot.

Have to think if we went with Cleo or Beck from game one we'd at least have 1 W and 5 less interceptions

HOW BAD DID LAMONT JORDAN GET INJURED?

Culpepper delivers a good pass to Curry but he drops it.
Dolphins take over. This will be a kneel down before Green throws another INT.

Pathetic, fans are rooting for the Tanya Harding strategy, injure the other team so they can't play.

Well, at least they didn't let Green throw it. Good Lord, I'm down on him.

OK, Bloggheads, what do you think so far?

Last play of half comment. Ronnie just broke one from 60 yards earlier in the game. What possible explaination would there be to not have Ronnie run again instead of that slow RB Chatman?

Agreed, this is not what we brought in a veteran for. Wonder if Cam is even considering a switch or if he is too proud to admit his mistake.

Maybe if we had Tanya Harding we wouldn't be 0-3?!

You have to throw the ball at the end of the half there. If it were 29 seconds left in the game trailing 14-7 they would be throwing it.

I'm following the game on CBS gamecenter and your blog, Armando.

Trent is sucking big time today, but he has time for vindication, unless CAM pulls him for the second half.

Its obvious that we need to continue to get the ball in Ronnie Brown's hands. The Miami WRs need to WAKE UP and make some plays.

What happened to Lamont Jordan? That might be the best thing that happens for the Fins if he is out for the rest of the game, unless the Fins D decides to make Justin Fargas look like the second coming of L.T.

We need to come out of halftime and SCORE....a FG, TD, whatever.

I'm really impressed with Ronnie Brown! He's now looking like the number two overall pick of the 2005 Draft.

Armando, why not some deep throws to Ginn???

CB´s are just a joke in miami...

If Lamont is injured it will make it easier for the defense.

I think we can win this going with ronnie...

My thoughts? Well, I'm blogging on here, which means I'm not really paying attention, which means it looks EXACTLY like every other game we've played the last 5 years. Turnovers, Mistakes, Penalties, Lost Chances, not utilizing Chambers or McMichael, oh wait, we cut him. If Cam doesn't pull Green I think he's sending the wrong message to EVERYONE

Armando, referring to your title article above....I think our D is toast. Got rid of too many players in the offseason and the existing ones are fading. 4 games now and they've gotten pushed around by everyone. There is no hope for this bunch. Trade JT, get what you can, and rebuild. Anything else is just fantasy.
